ch. 5 in the novel
ch. 5 in the novel
Lennie doesn't mean to kill her. He simply is in another head space. He fears George will find out about the puppy and inadvertently breaks her neck. Really Lennie always needed more help than he received. George did his best but Lennie's needs were much greater. In a perfect world Lennie would not be killed for what he did, there was no intent.
Lennie isn't trying to kill her..... he's trying to keep her from screaming so he won't get in trouble again...... so he an George won't have to run away again. Should he be punished..... nah, he should be put in a nice place (not like they had back then) for those who needed help.
