Why is Lennie , Crooks , and Candy left out of the festivties ?

Lennie is mentally challenged so the men don't know how to react to him. Lennie would rather sit in the barn and pet his puppy. Crooks is black and basically segregated from the whites on the ranch. Candy is old and has a hand cut off. He feels isolated and generally keeps to himself.
