The two are polar opposites. Everything Oliver represents in the novel (innocence, youth, honor, loyalty) is everything that Noah is not.

Like Oliver, Noah was a charity boy, and the opportunity to mistreat someone the way he was once treated ceases Noah from the moment Oliver arrives. Noah became jaded, whereas Oliver remained naive and retained his sweetness. Noach is a treacherous and sneaky young man.
