Some qualities of heroes are courage, self-confidence, and a willingness to sacrifice themselves for others. Cite incidents from the story proving McMurphy has these qualities.

McMurphy is a Christ- figure. He takes 12 of the patients (12 disciples) on a fishing trip and teaches (as did Jesus) the ways of life. In the end he sacrifices himself so the other men in the ward can see the truth, the "good news". Check out this link below:
