the situation involving brabantio and the moor is a predicament for the duke. he needs proof (106), and so othello suggest something out of the ordinary: a first hand report from desdemona, "if u find me foul in her report/ the trust, the office i do hold of you/ not only take away but let your sentence/ even fall upon my life (117-120). what is the precise nature of desdemonas affection for othello (according to his account 127-168).
