Desdemona is Othello's wife. She is a young Venetian woman of high birth and good breeding. Desdemona is almost overly virtuous, which causes her to feel that she must defend Cassio, and speak in a public sphere when necessary. She is stronger than Othello believes her to be, and is not the private, withdrawn, meek woman he wish she were. She bares Othello's paranoia and insecurities with patient stoicism. She truly loves Othello right up to the point he kills her. What I find most appealing about Desdemona is that she courageously voices her opinion, even in the midst of his chaotic rage,
Desdemona : And yet I fear you, for you’re fatal then
When your eyes roll so. Why I should fear I know not,
Since guiltiness I know not. But yet I feel I fear. Act 5 sc 2
