Although Othello loves Desdemona, he has become a puppet of Iago and is beginning to believe what Iago in hinting about Desdemona's fidelity. He argues with himself convincing himself that she no longer loves him because he is older than she is, is black, and has relatively "rough" manners. He believes he is not the courtier who would be worthy of her.
