Successful is an difficult word to attribute to a tragedy like Othello. Nobody ends up happy at the end of this play. I suppose Iago is successful in his undoing of Othello and his world. Iago's manipulations were largely "successful” in creating the carnage and chaos that he desired. In the end he is caught and most likely executed.
