Did Emily went to college?

If she was a very good student, well, very intelligent, why did she stay in Grover's corners and not make a career? I only know about George that he was about to, but he decide to stay with Emily.

No Emily never went to collage. She was certainly smart enough but her courtship and eventual marriage to George became the focal point of her life. This was considered to be a quite acceptable fate for a girl from a small town .
