Do Gladwell's many anecdotes prove his hypothesis? Or do his stories exemplify his ideas? Is there a difference...if so, what? Some critics suggest that Gladwell cherry-picks his facts in order to support his premise. Is that a valid observation or not?

I think his narrative is about ideas more than fact. There is a tone and mood of inspiration rather than actual data. The idea that success can be somehow orchestrated despite so many variables is difficult to accept. I also found that Gladwell has a narrow or worldly interpretation of what "success" means. He tends to choose examples that support the wealth driven ethos of a consumer culture.
