Milton seems to be making the argument that ignorance is better than knowledge.

When Eve was innocent, she believed she would die if she ate the fruit; when she acquired knowledge, she understood the difference between good and evil. What point is Milton making? Is it valid? Why or why not?

I think this must be seen in context of the story rather than the Bible. Satan casts doubt over God's word arguing that God is not infinitely wise and is actually hiding things. This falls in line with Satan's rebellion against God. By rebelling against God, Satan questions God's authority. He wants God's creatures to do the same to undermine God.
