How are Helen’s and Alfon’s account of kristallnacht different

Helen is a young woman with a small child when she is forced into hiding, knowing that if they are discovered their lives will be forfeit. Helen is Jewish and a survivor of the death camps.

Alfons was a young boy when Hitler began his rise to power, and he became a member of the Hitler Youth. He idolized Hitler and the Party ideology. Over time, he dedicated himself to rising in the ranks, a born leader. He believed the propaganda he was taught and was a staunch supporter of the Reich. He was also completely detached from the atrocities committed. Alfons would have seen kristallnacht in a very different context than Helen.
