Discuss what does Freire meant when he said oppressed people have fear of freedom?

For the oppressed, power and freedom are frightening concepts because they can see firsthand how power has corrupted their current leaders. Friere calls for the open access to a very specific kind of freedom, which he defines as praxis, which can be achieved by allowing for every person to make informed decisions in order to achieve maximum influence on their government's decisions. This allows everyone a voice and consequently some degree of power.
