how does the sculptor carve Ozymandias' face?

this was a question i got in year 6, while not having a clue I came on here to see if you could help me find the answer.

Although the sculptor meant to carve his face out of mockery, he still captures the passions of Ozymandias's face.

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,
