Marji has just told God to get out of her room. She is scared and feels like she is floating through space with no bearings. She feels God has forsaken her. The mood clearly feels a sense of confusion and loss of direction in her chaotic world.

In the panel on page 71, the illustration and the words work together to convey a potent image. In the picture Marji is shown floating in a black space, with a few stars and planets, and in the caption she talks of how she had lost her bearings, asking the reader “what could be worse than that?”. The answer to her question is answered further down in the page with a violent, spiky speech bubble saying “MARJI, RUN TO THE BASEMENT, WE’RE BEING BOMBED” and a caption that tells us that a war had begun.
