Poe's Poetry
what does the speaker demand that the raven do?
what does the speaker demand that the raven do?
what does the speaker demand that the raven do?
The speaker demands quite a few things throughout the poem. I'm going to list a few:
- birds name "tell me what thy lordly name is"
- is there balm Gilead (balm in this means comfort or healing)
-the speaker is really pining his lost love Lenore. He wants to know if he will see her again and give her a big hug! (clasped in her arms)
The bird just answers "nevermore" which really angers the speaker, "get thee back into the tempest...quit the bust above my door...take thy form from off my door." Which simply means "get lost bird".
