Poe's Short Stories

The Tell-Tale Heart

2. Why does the narrator call himself “nervous” but not “mad” in paragraph 1? What does this tell us about him? How does the author’s point of view impact the telling of the story?

The narrator is speaking to his state of mind.... the fact that he suffers from nervousness does not make him crazy. The narrator's point of view allows the reader to the narrator's state of mind.
