Are a future wife's connections important to Darcy?

Mr. Darcy is a wealthy gentleman. He is the master of Pemberley, and the nephew of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. He certainly has enough money to not go looking for it through marriage. I think initially the connections would have been important to Mr. Darcy as far as social-status went. He looked down on people he felt were "inferior". Mr. Darcy, however, does temper his judgments when he meets Elizabeth. Connections and social status did not mean as much to him after he is smitten with Elizabeth Bennet who certainly was not what Mr. Darcy would not have initially considered "worthy" of marriage to him.
