Caroline's letter: what do its style, tone, and contents reveal about the writer?

The letter is condescending....... insulting to say the least. Caroline's words are meant to distress and they do. She is arrogant, and her arrogance shines through in her intention to hurt and dissuade. Her ultimate desire is to rid herself of the Bennets in whatever way possible. She feels that Jane isn't good enough to marry her brother (social class), and she knows that with Jane out of the way...... her brother might in fact marry Georgianna. Carolines goal? To put herself in the best position of capturing Darcy for a husband.
