Jane and Elizabeth are sisters, and they're extremely close. Both are virtuous young women of strong character and allies in a home where education (formal)has been neglected. They giggle at their mother's silliness (yes, they're also embarrassed by it), they ignore their farther's sarcasm, and they attempt to guide Lydia without the support of their parents (Mr Bennet ignores Lydia's relationship with Wickham simply because he doesn't want to listen to her whining).

All in all, the sisters are the best of friends.
