This is only a short answer space. Generally, the ironic tone of Pride and Prejudice is set with the very beginning of the novel. Its first sentence, “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife”, foreshadows the humorous tone of the novel.
