What is absurd about Mr.Collins' selection?

First of all, he chooses Elizabeth...... Miss Independence. Second of all, he proposes in a ways that makes one think he's signing a business contract. Third, he explains to Elizabeth that he came to find a wife, and decided he must propose to one of the sisters based on Lady Catherine's advice, and his desire to make ammends with the Bennet family because he will be inheriting their home.

His selection is also absurd because he cannot take a hint..... Elizabeth refuses him repeatedly, and yet he continues to believe that she's just playing hard to get. She couldn't be more sincere in her refusals, and he couldn't be more conceited in his refusal to understand her.
