Higgins identifies Eliza's neighborhood and upbringing simply by listening to her accent. Do such judgements and assumptions occur in our society?
Unfortunately they still do. Accents are still subject to ethnic and regional stereotypes. We see this in stereotyped "negro" accents or stereotyped accents from the American South.
