Throughout the scene in Act II, Mrs. Pearce is upset about Higgins intentions, why?

Higgins intends to not only teach Eliza, but to move her into his home as well. Mrs. Pearce is extremely upset by this plan, as it is completely inappropriate for a young, single woman to be staying in their home.
