What does this scene tell us about Higgins' manners and sociability?

Higgins' own manners are atrocious and he has a definite lack of social skills. His interest in conversation and dialogue is experimental. He has no wish to apply manners or social etiquette to his own life. This causes his mother more than a little embarrassment.
