The monster internalizes the sound: it is a sound that speaks to it's primordial pathos and loneliness. When the sound ceases, the monster feels utterly alone. Loneliness is an empty emotion that has the power to destroy. People lash out at their own loneliness. We, as humans, are social animals. Intense loneliness causes us to react in violent ways against the abyss.
