Loneliness can be the most horrible of emotions for people and, perhaps, sea monsters. Humans are social animals. We live in packs (families) and crave constant interactions with each other. Loneliness and isolation can really disturb our emotional and mental health. Often loneliness drives people to desperate measures to relieve their pain. There can be an overwhelming sense of emptiness that comes with isolation: an abyss with no way to climb out.
