What does the film suggest about Jefferies' & Lisa's (& Stella's) desires and motives?

The protagonist is confined to a wheelchair. His motivation for his spying is a sense of escape. Jeffries is normally a thrill seeker so he uses voyeurism as a sense of excitement. At the same time Jefferies. Perhaps subconsciously, is escaping the confines of his relationship with his girlfriend Lisa. The problems that Jefferies observes with the neighbors begin to reflect the problems that he has with Lisa. Thus begins a vicious cycle of anxiety and doubt that feeds on each other. Stella's motivations seem tailored for the audience. She questions Jefferies going as far as calling him a "peeping-tom". Stella is down to earth and voices many of the audience's fears and suspicions about Jefferies.
