What seems to be the mood of maxim and his new wife as they approach Manderley?

The narrator feels increasingly anxious about her future role as the mistress of Manderley, but Maxim assumes that she is simply tired. There is an ominous feeling about the trip. The narrator is scared and insecure about her new role and Maxim is stressed and insecure about the truth of his dead wife.
