Mr. Morrison wanted to stop Uncle Hammer from going to confront Mr. Simms, which probably would have resulted in his getting killed. Uncle hammer wanted to confront Simms over his treatment of Cassie..... Mr. Morrison had to keep Uncle Hammer out all night talking to stop him.
