When Uncle Hammer hears Cassie's story, he leaves in his Packard. Mr. Morrison goes with him. Mama was worried about Hammer taking Papa's gun, but he told her he had his own. Hammer was angry about the way Mr. Simms treated Cassie at the store. Mr. Morrison stopped him from doing anything foolish.
