Yes the story would be different because T.J. would not of got hert and the night riders would not of came to kill T.J. but was unsussessfull

This would have dramatically changed the book. But, I like the way it goes. It shows what hard times there were! Also, in the sequal LET THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN, most of the book is about T.J. and his trial so I think that Taylor did a good job writing this part.
