Stacey never alludes to cheating being anything wrong, or that he would be afraid of Mama if he even thought about it.

Stacey's response to T.J. this time was that if you want to cheat or ask Mama questions then you can ask it to her. I am not going to ask Mama any questions. Stacey says this because he doesn't want to get whipped by Mama again because of T.J. in front of the entire class.
