How does the author use Tj Avery to convey a message or a lesson ?

Tj certainly is a cautionary tale unto himself. T.J. llies, steals and seeks validation from others that would use him. T.J. validates himself through white companionship and wants expensive things to make him feel good. He often forgets who his real friends are, often betraying them. The character of T.J. runs counter to the themes of loyalty, family, dignity and hard work which the Logan family follow so closely.
