Was the problem in the story solved?

In my opinion, the conflict is only partially resolved. T.J. is apprehended, the Logans keep their land, the crop is not completely destroyed, and the people work together for the greater good. None-the-less, much of the story is not quite so neatly closed..... which is why the author wrote a sequel.
