What happened during the attack on the Logans?

On the way back from Vicksburg, the back wheels fell off the wagon. Stacey believed the wheels were purposely removed by some boys in town as a trick. Since they didn't want to have to unload the whole wagon, Stacey held the horse; Mr. Morrison held up the back of the wagon; and Papa attached the wheel. While they were busy, a truck with approached them from the rear. When it got behind them, It turned on its lights. Papa then grabbed his shotgun, but someone in the truck shot at Papa first, grazing his temple. The shots then caused the horse to rear up and the wagon rolled over Papa's leg. Papa told Stacey to hide in the gully on the side of the road. The men also shot at and missed Mr. Morrison, who proceeded to throw one of them to the ground and fought with the others. Mr. Morrison then put the wheel on and they came home.
