Why do Harlan granger and big am each have a strong feeling a bout the Logan's land?

The Logan's land had previously belonged to the Granger family until after the Civil War when they "had sold it during Reconstruction to a Yankee for tax money." THe Grangers bought much of the land back except for 200 acred which Grandpa Logan had bought. The Grangers hate this.
