why do you think Jeremy never rode the Jefferson Davis Bus?

I believe Jeremy didn't ride the bus because he didn't feel like he belonged. He came from a poor family, was abused, and slept in a tree house whenever possible. He must have seen the white children on that bus as alien to everything he'd known.
