Why do you think Pap insist on going to Vicksburg in spite of the threats?

pap decides to go to Vicksburg because its the only way he can protest the injustice they receive in their own hometown. The only way they can receive proper treatment at Wallace's store is to make everyone understand that they're not going to tolerate the treatment they receive there.
