The Logan children were acting with discord because of the discomfort they each felt about hiding what reallt happened to the school bus from their mother. Cassie is certain she (they) are responsible for the actions of the "night-men". She keeps her promise to Stacey and says nothing, but is filled with guilt, as are the other children.
