Why will boycotting the Wallce Store upset Mr. Granger and be dangerous?

Mr. Granger has a lot of power in the town. He is already racist to the blacks he sells to. He also is involved with the vicious nightriders who torture blacks. Crossing him could certainly be dangerous.
