Romeo and Juliet

Are the adults and/or parent figures to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s actions?

Are they to blame for their actions? I can maybe claim that part of Juliet's love for Romeo is out of pure spite of her parents and that she wants to rebel because she just hates needing to marry Paris. If Paris were never a character do we think Juliet would love Romeo as much or less?

In my opinion, the adults have little to do with Romeo and Juliet's actions. Their actions are impetuous and emotional. I do, however, believe that the encouragement of the Nurse and the Friar add to the mix..... rather than giving good council, they plunge the couple into even more danger. Note.... this is an opinion.
