What do you learn about the play from the prologue?
The prologue gives a fairly short summary of the play "two houses, both alike, in fair Verona were we lay our scene." This is a tragedy so the audience would go into the play knowing that the main characters die in the end. The prologue sets us up with a little background about the feuding families and the star-crossed lovers.
