Romeo tempts fate and death. He sees his Juliet, so he thinks,  dead and wants to be with her rather than live and be apart. Romeo personifies the death tomb as an animal seeking the dead for food. He offers to feed it further with his own body:

Thou detestable maw, thou womb of death,
Gorged with the dearest morsel of the earth,
Thus I enforce thy rotten jaws to open,
And, in despite, I'll cram thee with more food!
