Why does Mecrutio become upset with Romeo's responce to tybalt?

Mercutio cannot understand Romeo's response because of the feud that has ended countless lives in the past. He feels Romeo isn't being honorable. He doesn't understand that Romeo has just become a part of the family he's sworn to fight, that he's backing down from a fight he's a part of just because of his family name.
