Why become a member of a political party? Is it right for Schindler to join the Nazi Party just because it helped his business?

Schindler initially worked for German intelligence before joining the Nazi Party. He was an opportunist, a businessman, who liked the finer things in life, and a man who at the time, was unwilling to place his livelihood in jeopardy. Everything Schindler did was about the money.... at least until the Nazi atrocities against the Jewish community increased, and he began to see them for what they were. In the end, Schindler was a hero.
