compare and contrast willoubhy and edward and their view towards love?

Willoughby and Edward's views on love are vastly different. Willoughby has a "romantic" view on love. He thinks that love is dramatic and flamboyant and should be shown in public (very much like the idea of chivalry). His love is more about passion than affection, and will flare brightly, but burn out quickly. Edward feels that love grows quietly and softly. He doesn't feel the need to publicly declare love because he feels that if love is true, it shouldn't have to be shouted from the rooftops. And because his love builds slowly, it will last.

Willoughby's love is all show and no substance, which reflects his true character. Edward's love is constant and honest, which reflects his character. Interestingly, these two characters' views are as opposite as their personalities.
