why might Faulkner have chosen to immediately announce Emily's death before revealing more about her life in Part I ?

from talking about the dead Miss Emily to the "Alive" when the narrator is talking about the tax notice.

I think this brings the reader the suspense of speculation about just who Miss. Emily was? Was she respected? Did she do something wrong? Why the interest in her anyway? Faulkner sets us up for a chronology of events that leads to what we already know. He is able to manipulate us, in a good way.
