Why does Siddhartha speak of himself in the third-person? I.e., Siddhartha says, "…Siddhartha can wait calmly, he knows no impatience, he knows no emergency…"

There is an omniscient detached quality to this point of view that gives Siddhartha a connection with all living vessels. Part of breaking the chains of samsara is the ability to relinquish the "I" and connect to the totality of the universe. The third person gives Siddhartha the ability to transcend the concrete and communicate more abstract concepts.
