By the end of the novel Siddhartha radiates enlightenment. Siddhartha has transcended the desire and found the path. He tells Govinda that he must find his own path but if he (Govinda) kisses his forehead, he will see the unity of all elements that Siddhartha now knows. Govinda will, however, have to find his own path to this awareness.
